New Print Size and Limited Edition prints
27th May 2014
It has been a long held ambition of mine to be considered by the Royal Photographic Society. The requirement was to submit a panel of ten images, approximately A4 prints, mounted in a 20"x16" neutral coloured mount. A smaller print area than I would normally have considered appropriate for the mount size. That was until I saw them finished in this way. The deeper border really makes the image stand out from the mount. I have therefore added this option to some images and will be resizing others to suit. They will be offered from a limited edition of 25 in this size, each one being signed and numbered. The first 20 of each are available at just £36 each+pp
I am delighted to say that I was awarded the distinction of the LRPS (Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society)
Some of the images that made up the panel are already on this site, but the remainder will be added when time permits.

New Half Day Workshops
30th January 2014
Hartlepool is the latest venue for half day workshops, concentrating on Composition, the use of filters and how to expose for moving water. The workshops will start with a short discussion to help get to know the manual settings on your camera, followed by about 3 hours of photography around the old Steetley Jetty.
Lots of opportunity here for photographs of the beach, the neighbouring sand dunes and the jetty itself.
The workshops are restricted to a maximum of 3 participants and cost only £45 per person.
Dates will be based on the tides, but will be mainly mid week, although there could be a limited number of week end dates too.

Use the contact form to express an interest and you will be contacted to discuss dates.

Waterfall Workshops
30th July 2013

I have two workshops in September with an emphasis on Waterfalls and water movement.
Bookings are now being taken for these workshops and are already proving to be popular. They are based in Teesdale, around Bowlees and Low Force. There has been a lot of early interest and places are limited, so if you are interested, do not delay.
Artist in Residence
23rd June 2013
I am delighted to tell you that I have been accepted by the Barnard Castle NeST Gallery as an "Artist in Residence" from 1st July 2013. This means that there will be a selection of my prints on show at the gallery and available "off the wall" as framed prints, with others mounted for framing. Workshops for those wishing to learn more about their cameras will still be available on the North Yorkshire coast, but for those wishing to explore the opportunities in Teesdale and Swaledale, the NeST will become a base for these tutorials. Work from a number of other local artists is available at the NeST (just along from Bowes Museum) and good coffee too. If you are in the area then please call in.
Isle of Skye
21st April 2013
Each time I look at the file of these images it presents me with the daunting task of deleting those that did not quite make it, but also reminds me of the fabulous time we had up there just experiencing the fantastic landscape in superb light. I have now started to upload some of the images from the trip but keep returning as there should be more to come!

Isle of Skye
31st March 2013
Just Back from a week of photography on The Isle of Skye. An incredible place, and we were blessed with unbelievable weather. A lot of images to work through, but should have some ready in the next few days. The trip home would not have been complete of course without calling at Glen Coe, Eilean Donnan Castle and one or two other places along the way.
12th March 2013
A trip up to Scotland has produced a few new images, but disaster struck with a memory card failure and some have been lost for ever!
Next trip north is a bigger venture with a week on Skye with Keith and Martin. A full week of photography in a fantastic location. This time I will be changing my tactics to avoid losing any precious images. All that we need is some good light.
What's New for 2013
31st January 2013
New images can now be seen (and purchased 'off the wall') at the Spa Hotel on Saltburn Bank. Why not stop by and enjoy a drink or a meal in the newly re-furbished restaurant or conservatory.

I now have a reliable supplier of fabulous solid oak frames and others in really good black wood effect which will soon be added to the options for those wishing to buy prints direct from this site. My biggest worry is in sending a framed print with real glass, but all deliveries will be fully insured, so the no quibble guarantee is still good.
Spa Hotel Satburn
28th November 2012
The Spa Hotel, Saltburn is currently having a major facelift and is taking a number of my framed photographs for display in the public areas. They will be available for sale there too. A selection of coastal images from Whitby to Bamburgh will be on show from next week.

New Images
22nd November 2012
Spent a week end in the lakes with Keith and Martin. Experienced a lot of Lake District weather but came back with a few new images which you can view, strangely enough, in the Rivers Lakes and Lochs area of the gallery.

Back in the swing
06th November 2012
With this new site up and running, I am able to add new images a lot easier than in the past so I am now able to look forward to this week end when Keith, Martin and I will be heading off to the Lakes. We may catch some of the last Autumn colour.
New look for web site
01st November 2012
Yes after a lot of hours working on writing a site using CSS templates etc. I discovered that Photium had already done much of the work on putting a site together that would suit me so that I can spend less time in front of the computer and more out with a camera. It even does the sales bit for me too.
I hope that you like the new look, and feel free to use the shopping trolley. As a little incentive, until the end of November, all orders over £100 are post free.
Regards, Phil
